The Story:
The year was 1905 and an ambitious young man, Marcellus Bradley, rented a small space on a newly constructed oceanfront pier to begin fulfilling his dream of building an amusement area where families could come to escape the labors of everyday life. He started with just one ride, but soon grew far beyond his own borders, eventually purchasing the entire pier, upon which he continued to build his dream. By the 1940's, his was one of the most popular destinations on the entire east coast. In 1945, Marcellus Bradley died and handed down the pier to his young son, John Bradley. John didn't quite share the same zest for life and dreaming that his father did. But, as he grew into his twenties and thirties, he met and married his wife, Mary, who was an eternal optimist, and, together, they successfully kept the pier alive. In 1970, John and Mary had a daughter, Jennifer, who was, unfortunately, born into a much different world than the one her grandfather had lived in. Over the past few years, the pier and its surrounding neighborhood had started to decline, with vandals and reckless teenagers wreaking their havoc on the now struggling amusement area. Times were certainly different. One young local boy in particular, Michael Tilliana, or, "Tillie", as his friends called him, seemed to be at the heart of most of the trouble - torturing guests, vandalizing rides, and just causing an undue amount of heartache and problems for the determined owners. But Mary, with her undying faith in humanity, convinced her husband to continue to run the pier and support the surrounding area, which was also falling into a state of dilapidation and criminal activity. They held strong for a few more years, until Mary's sudden death in the mid-1970's forced John to finally close the pier for good, while citing the antics of Michael Tilliana as one of the direct causes. In a way, Tillie seemed to symbolize everything that had gone wrong with the area over the last 10 years.

By the year 2000, the pier and the surrounding boardwalk and neighborhood had been completely abandoned. Walking through the area was like walking through a ghost town. It was around that time that Tillie decided to return to the old pier to see what had become of it. Tillie, in fact, had left town in the mid-1980's and had gone on to become quite a successful businessman in his own right. The complete and utter destruction that he saw upon his return filled him with sadness, grief, and guilt. He decided, then and there, to track down John Bradley and see if he would be interested in rebuilding the pier and re-investing in the area in hopes of bringing it back to life. After a short search, he found John, who, by then, was an old man, and, with the promise of financing the entire project, Tillie convinced John to help him rebuild the pier. And so, together, they began the long and arduous task of recreating the pier exactly as it looked in its heyday - right down to the very last detail. Along the way, Tillie examined his own guilt and began to remember parts of his childhood that he had long since forgotten - fitting together all of the missing pieces until, finally, the pier was ready for its grand reopening. And so, 5 short years after he began, Tillie, with John Bradley by his side, readied himself to welcome the waiting world back into their rebuilt masterpiece.

And then we see the scene from Jennifer Bradley's perspective, who is now a grown woman and still living in the neighborhood. But her perspective on what Tillie has built is much different than his...

What we thought was only a final dream was really the transferred thoughts of a soldier who had been sent to war and now lay dying after having been fatally wounded. This album takes us on a journey through a brave man's dying thoughts as he flashes back to tell us the story of his life, and intermittently has premonitions about how his friends and family will react to his untimely death. But are the reactions real, or just a dying man's vision of what might have happened upon his death?

Discovery (1:43)
What Once Was (5:19)
How Quiet The Fire (8:11)
Road To Recovery (4:12)
Shadows (12:58)

The Story:
The second volume, Indian Head Suite, was recorded entirely on 4-track equipment as a concept demo. It tells the parallel story of urban decay and human decline. It is the story of an elementary school, once flourishing and adding life to a suburban town, then abandoned and left to fall victim to vandalism and decay. And a boy, full of dreams and hope for the future, who is so encompassed by the human neglect in the world that he too falls victim to a self-inflicted fate of doom. It is the story of generation and degeneration, and a sad commentary on how we are all still just children - building towers out of blocks only to knock them down.

The Story:
The first volume, Nightmares, was recorded entirely on 4-track equipment as a concept demo. It follows the story of a man who struggles with his own morality and religious beliefs by interpreting his own dreams. The life he lives in his dreams forces him to question his real life actions as he is taken on a journey of extremes - transforming himself from a preacher, to a playboy, to a crusader, to a soldier - and questioning his beliefs and values at each step of the way. It is a strange and self-reflective look at the inner workings of an obsessive and fanatic mind.
